Over $100,000 to Support Youth Success
The third edition of ITI’s Golf Tournament raised a record-breaking $101,300 for the ITI Foundation, thanks to the generosity of our clients, partners, collaborators and employees. This amount will support the ITI Foundation’s mission: to improve access to technology for youth across the country, helping support their learning and spark a passion for IT.
The event brought together more than one hundred golfers last July at Kanawaki Golf Club.
A Foundation Helping Bridge the Digital Equity Gap
In collaboration with community-based organizations, the ITI Foundation aims to put technology to work for young people and their dreams. Its technology projects take root in the living and learning environments where youth grow and develop: schools, community centres, specialized classrooms, and other settings, including those supporting young people under youth protection services.
One might assume that Canada, as a G7 country, is shielded from poverty. In Quebec, education is accessible to everyone. Yet poverty is still very present here: nearly 30% of students in the province attend schools considered disadvantaged. In some schools, nearly one in two families lives below the poverty line. Young people from these communities face many inequalities, particularly when it comes to access to digital equipment. This is where the ITI Foundation steps in.
For young people like me, who have been through youth protection services, access to quality computer equipment can be a real springboard for succeeding in our studies and building a better future. We have often had to overcome personal challenges, and receiving this kind of support shows that people believe in our potential. It gives us extra motivation to persevere and achieve our goals.
