ITI, Evolving for 35 Years

To mark its 35th anniversary, ITI is celebrating the people who have helped build the company over the years. Throughout the coming year, this interview series shines a spotlight on long-standing colleagues as they share their journeys, memories, and perspectives on ITI’s evolution. It’s an opportunity to revisit our history through the stories of those who have helped shape it for years.

An Interview with Philippe Chicoine, Associate Account Manager

Philippe, what has your journey at ITI been like?

My journey at ITI began 17 years ago, during the merger between Profex and ProContact, which later became ITI. At the time, the company was mainly recognized for selling IT equipment in the healthcare sector, especially in the Quebec City region.

I started in inside sales for healthcare. Thanks to my very technical profile, I quickly earned the organization’s trust and was asked to develop new commercial account logos while continuing to manage healthcare clients.

A few years later, when ITI began further developing the government market, I was asked to contribute my expertise to support that growth.

For the past two years, I have held the position of Associate Account Manager. I am responsible for multiple government departments and agencies.

What has changed at ITI since you arrived?

A lot has changed since my early days at ITI. The company has experienced remarkable growth, and above all, our role with clients has evolved profoundly.

This transformation was built over the years, thanks to a clear vision from leadership, which consistently invested in developing the skills and expertise of its teams.

At the same time, ITI significantly broadened its service offering. From a company primarily focused on equipment sales, we became a complete technology partner, integrating expertise in server and storage infrastructure, networking with various partners, managed services, and several other strategic areas. This evolution now allows us to address much more complex needs and support our clients throughout their digital transformation.

What makes you most proud at ITI?

What makes me especially proud is the credibility ITI has built over the years.

When I look at how far we have come, I find ITI’s evolution over the past ten years simply remarkable. And what is even more motivating is that we continue to grow and reinvent ourselves to meet our clients’ needs.

What, would you say, is the main reason you are still with ITI after all these years?

If I am still at ITI today, it is also because I am happy here. The company culture, the relationships I have built, and the opportunities I have been given have always contributed to my growth. Over the years, I have developed great confidence in our leadership team. I have also referred several people to join the team, which reflects the trust I have in the organization.

You talk a lot about expertise, which is one of ITI’s values. What does it mean to you?

To me, expertise is what truly sets us apart in our market. Products and technologies evolve quickly, but what makes the difference is the ability to understand the client’s needs and propose the best solution based on their reality. My goal is always to be able to have a peer-to-peer discussion with technical teams, while also being able to translate that information into business value for decision-makers and buyers. It is in that advisory role that I believe I bring the most value.

Ultimately, our role is not limited to responding to a need. We must bring a different perspective and help our clients make informed decisions. This approach, in my opinion, is what makes ITI strong and helps build long-term relationships based on trust.

I am also very proud of the vision our leadership team has shown over the past few years. They were able to anticipate market changes, invest in the right areas, and evolve the company at the right pace. Collectively, we worked hard to build this reputation and credibility.

An Interview with Lucie Bérubé, Call for Tender Coordinator

Lucie, what has your career path been like at ITI?

This year marks my 16th year with the company. I started as a secretary and receptionist at the Quebec City office, where I’m based, and held that position for ten years. When the pandemic hit, my position had to be reevaluated, and that aligned with my desire to grow. Since I was already handling some sales tasks, I was then offered the chance to join that team. I thus became a sales assistant. Then, my role evolved with the company, and since 2022, I have been a bid coordinator.

Speaking of which, how has your role evolved as the company has grown?

Even during my time at the front desk, I had the opportunity to work in several departments, such as administration, customer service, sales, and even some bidding processes. I helped out a little bit with everything. My career growth mirrored that of the company: the more ITI grew, the more opportunities I had to develop my skills and take on new responsibilities.

How does ITI help you thrive in your work? What motivates you to stay at ITI?

I feel heard and supported. I have regular check-ins with my manager, and I feel that what I say is taken into account. I also have a lot of flexibility in managing my schedule, which gives me a great deal of freedom. Beyond that, there’s a real sense of closeness. Even though the company has grown a lot, I still feel the family spirit we had when there were just 40 of us.

Also, I love what I do, I have the tools I need to do my job well, and I work with amazing colleagues. In my personal life, I need stability, and ITI provides everything that’s essential to me.

How do you connect ITI’s values to your role?

Integrity is a very important value. In my role, it’s essential to be thorough, honest, and compliant in everything we submit. It’s also a matter of reputation for ITI. Accountability also resonates with me deeply: knowing how to acknowledge one’s mistakes, learn from them, and move forward. These are two values that speak to me in particular.

When I first joined, we had about 40 full-time employees. Today, we have over 250. I’m proud to be part of a company that has grown so much.
