Steve Morin

Senior Vice-President, Finances and Operations

6 years at ITI Learn Exchange Expand

At ITI since 2018, Steve is a pragmatic manager who never hesitates to go one step further. He’s in charge of developing strategies, which for him are made by people, for people.

How would you describe ITI to a new talent who wants to join the team?

I always say that working here is a lot of fun. People are friendly and we’ve built strong relationships. But we also have goals and a vision to achieve. We work hard, and we’re not playing around. We’re here to help our team members develop their careers, and we expect their energy and commitment in return.

What role do humans play in technology?

Humans play the same role they do in many other sectors: they are essential. Before joining ITI, I worked closely with entrepreneurs who wanted to optimize their expenses, improve their plants, or increase their productivity. But the solutions always came back to people.

Ultimately, IT is meant to make human life easier. Understanding our clients’ situations and finding technological solutions to achieve their business goals is a deeply human process, which artificial intelligence can never replace.

What is your proudest achievement?

I am especially proud of my career and my development, both professionally and personally. After earning my undergraduate degree, I worked in finance and started a family. We then moved to a new region, I completed a master’s degree, and I suddenly found myself working in IT! I’m not one to sit still.

I’m very proud of everything I’ve accomplished. I left the field I’d studied in to explore an industry that I wasn’t familiar with. At the same time, all of this was possible because I was surrounded by extremely competent people and multi-disciplinary teams who excel in their domain. We’ve built a strong, trusting relationship that allows us to accomplish our goals and take things further.

Which of ITI’s four fundamental values represent you best?

I would say excellence. I took a lot of time to complete my master’s thesis, and in the end it was my wife who convinced me to submit it. I received top marks, but the need to take the time necessary to achieve excellence is a good reflection of my personality.

For me, it’s important to really understand what I’m doing. That’s not to say I excel at everything I do, but I don’t believe in doing things halfway.

What motives you to get up and work in the morning?

Since IT is an industry that’s constantly changing, I’m very motivated to learn new things every day. ITI’s work environment is conducive to sharing ideas, and that’s very rewarding!

My kids also push me to get up in the morning! And there’s still so much for me to see: cultures to discover, trips to take. It motivates me to keep going!
